Hi friends, as many of you know, my wife Jenni was diagnosed with ovarian cancer a few months ago. We now know the cancer discovered was stage 1, and believe it is all removed.
This Jenni’s Journey (#3) starts with her first chemo session of six. She is going through chemo as a precautionary measure at the recommendation of her doctors.
The only reason we knew she had cancer is because:
She requested the BRCA 1 test from her doctor, and it came back positive for the BRCA 1 mutation gene.
Given this information, and knowing her family history with cancer, Jenni decided to get a preemptive hysterectomy. It was after the procedure the doctors discovered the cancer.
Ovarian cancer is virtually undetectable until you are in a later stage. There is no real screening process for it. Had Jenni not opted for the preemptive hysterectomy, we would not have discovered her cancer until stage 3 or 4.
Jenni’s Journey #1 and #2 details all of this further, and is available HERE and HERE.
Thanks for all your kindness and friendship.
